The Magnificent Seven Briefcase was an award established by the Defiant Wrestling (formerly WhatCulture Pro Wrestling) promotion to the winner of a seven way elimination match or a ladder match.
The holder of the contracts have a rule that only in matches they can lose their contracts (if the holder of the contract is pinned, submitted or even by TKO the contract is passed to the opponents that got the win. This needs to be in a professional wrestling match and not at any time) it's similar to due WWE's Money in the Bank, where the prize in the match is a briefcase containing a contract for a championship match, which can be "cashed in" by the holder of the briefcase at any point in the year following their victory.
The first match was contested in 2017 and the winners of their contracts can get any championship match, for one of Defiant World/Internet Championship match.
Originally the winner Martin Kirby didn't received an actually briefcase until Build to Destroy 2017. The briefcase was defended in multiple singles matches and once in a ladder match, until second the holder El Ligero (who defeated Kirby at Build to Destroy) lost his briefcase to Marty Scurll, who cashed in his briefcase to win the WCPW World Championship.
Concept[]
The Magnificent Seven can feature anywhere from 5–10 participants, with the objective being to retrieve a briefcase that is suspended 20 feet above the ring. The briefcase contains a contract that guarantees a match for the Defiant Championship as well as the Defiant Internet Championship were options as well. The primary gimmick of the Magnificent Seven briefcase is that it can be cashed in at the holder's sole discretion, at literally any time on any Defiant programming. This enables the holder to take advantage of a moment's weakness in the champion, even if the champion had just finished a title defense for the night. The contract is valid for one year and the briefcase holder can cash in the contract at the date, place and time of his choosing. The briefcase may also be defended in matches, similar to how championships are defended. All of the briefcase holders have successfully defended and cashed in the contract except Martin Kirby and El Ligero.
