The Congregation were a stable formed by Pastor William Eaver following his arrival in Defiant Wrestling. The stable acted as a form of religeous cult with members being recruited by Eaver through apparent brainwashing.
Defiant Wrestling history[]
WCPW began airing promos in the Autumn of 2017 promoting the arrival of Pastor William Eaver and he finally appeared at Refuse to Lose following a match between Liam Slater and Johnny Moss where it appeared that Eaver had some sort of hold over Slater. Moose appeared to support his former tag partner Slater and challenged Eaver to a match. The Congregation were officially formed at We Are Defiant following a bout between Eaver and Gabriel Kidd. Eaver had performed an in ring sermon and noted that his scheduled opponent Moose was unable to wrestle due to being in Japan. Prince Ameen came out and suggested Kidd as an alternative opponent. Eaver accepted with the stipulation that if he won then guest referee Liam Slater would be forced to join his Congregation, while if Kidd won then Slater would join Kidd and Ameen. Kidd pinned Eaver only for Slater to refuse to make the count allowing Eaver to reverse, at which point Slater made a quick count, cementing his association with Eaver.
At Defiant #1 Eaver and Slater took on Ameen and Kidd in a tag match only for Jurn Simmons to appear in the ring and attack Ameen and Kid, allowing Eaver and Slater to pick up the win. Simmons then carried Ameen to the back to join the group.
The following weeks Gabriel Kidd searched for his friend Prince Ameen with the Congregation refusing to revela his whereabouts. At Defiant #4 Kidd took on Slater in a singles bout only for Eaver to interfere by throwing Ameen's carpet into the ring. Ameen finally reappeared at Defiant #5 where he interfered in a match between Simmons and Luke Menzies, confirming his position with the Congregation. Kidd subsequently confronted Ameen outside the venue but Ameen brushed him aside and suggested that Kidd join their group.
At Defiant #9 Eaver and Simmons challenged Gabriel Kidd to a tag match with the brainwashed Ameen as kidds partner, with the stipulation that if Kidd and Ameen lose then Kidd must join their group. Eaver attempted to get Ameen to throw the bout but Ameen eventually snapped out of his trance and attacked Eaver, picking up the win.
Kidd then took on Simmons at Chain Reaction, but Eaver failed to appear and Kidd picked up the win following interference from Prince Ameen.
